Giving back to the community...
is one of our eight core values, and we're determined to give fun and funds to not-for-profit organizations focusing on local youth and/or environmental conservation, with the mission to build a stronger and healthier community. Throughout the year we donate hundreds of tour tickets to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Make-A-Wish foundation, the Seattle Aquarium, more than 450 groups in support of their fundraising events, and give monetary support towards The Seattle Times Fund For The Needy.
In addition to these donations, the local camp program Camp Goodtimes, a non-profit dedicated to kids affected by cancer, is an uplifting illustration of community giving. Our very own Captain Mooselips drives the Goodtime II (known to campers as Da Boata) chartering children and young adults to the resident camp on Vashon Island for a full week of summer fun.
President and CEO of Argosy Cruises, Kevin Clark, explains “campers at Camp Goodtimes are kids who had cancer, still have cancer and are still in some form of treatment, or are healthy siblings sharing the experience with their sister or brother. They have that same connection; the thread of what life is like once you are diagnosed. The camp is filled with people that know what they are going through, supported by medical personnel and volunteers, and this is their week to forget it all.”
We're thrilled to give our support to Camp Goodtimes (out to camp June 23-29, and July 14-20), and look forward to driving campers on the Da Boata this season and many more to come.
