West Seattle Fourth of July Kid’s Parade
For anyone in West Seattle or beyond, this parade is a great way to kick off the festivities with kids of any age. Walking in your holiday attire towards Hamilton Viewpoint with close family, friends and neighbors has been a beloved tradition for nearly 30 years. Hundreds of people waving American flags, kids with decorated bicycles, and small babies in strollers adorned with ribbons and pinwheels make the short walk together at 10am.
There are many fun activities to keep them entertained once the parade is over like making crafts, competing in a sack race, and even getting to touch a real fire truck! Activities are sponsored by local businesses and supported by volunteers; kids are free! There is a variety of food and desert options available for purchase from local food trucks in the area. This is a great way to spend your Fourth of July morning with the whole family surrounded by excitement!
Watch the Fireworks on Lake Union from an Argosy Cruise
The Pacific Northwest’s largest firework display takes place on Lake Union where barges launch bright colors into the night sky. Sky View Observatory Fireworks
This is a unique opportunity to see the thrilling fireworks display from the sky. Kids are welcome at this event and will be mesmerized by the view over the bay from the 73rd floor of the Columbia Center. Ticket purchase includes a drink ticket with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available. They offer a specialty food menu in the observatory to fully enjoy the fireworks from the tallest building in Washington.

Spend the 4th on an Island
Bainbridge Island that is, for the Grand Old Fourth of July family-friendly celebration. Hop on the ferry to visit this beautiful place close to home. There are plenty of activities to do all day from 7 am to 5 pm, kicking off with a pancake breakfast to support the community’s High School Boosters Club. Kids will love the mini golf and vintage cars driving around as a part of the Classic Car Show and adults can shop in the street fair with local artist or perhaps check out the beer and wine garden.
A mile-long parade begins at 1 pm so don’t be late! Even without the “Best Small Town Parade in America” there are still plenty of other attractions that make this trip worthwhile with little ones on the 4th of July. This event features pony rides, a bouncy house and even a 2-story super slide. Free Wi-Fi and shuttle make this event accessible and budget friendly. 27 Flags Independence Day Celebration at the Museum of Flight
Honor the meaning of Independence Day by joining Members of Skyway Post 9430 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars as they salute the American flag. This unique presentation features all 27 versions of the flag that has officially represented the US since its inception.
This all-ages program is a great chance to learn and teach some of our nation’s history on a day in its honor. There are two presentations at 11 AM and 2PM which are accompanied by the story of the flag’s symbolism. This event is free with museum admission, so spend the day exploring all things aviation and visit this special ceremony.
The museum is $29 per adult $21 for youth 5-17 and free for children 4 and under. Learn the untold stories of World War 2 and see aviation up close. It’s a great way to keep your kids entertained on the 4th of July before the fireworks begin while honoring the birthday of America.
